Volvo automatic transmissions in the past were all supplied and made by the ZF company, now the transmissions are developed by Volvo with Aisin W of Japan. FYI: Geartronic is Volvo Cars’ name for its manual/automatic, hence manumatic transmission.
The C70 is front wheel drive car, believe it or not. Some of the finest luxury performance sedans are on front wheel and or all wheel drive chassis. What this means is both the transmission and engine are mounted under the hood, and each front wheel has a short axle running from the transmission to transmit the power.

The automatic transmissions used in the C70 are called the Geartronic manumatic units. Geartronic transmissions are manufactured by in Japan by Aisin AW.
