“Where Our Customers Send Their Friends”

A day or so ago I got a call from a friend. It happens all the time. He had questions related to transmissions, his in particular. It almost sounds like a Three Stooges plot or Abbot and Costello when the questions start to pour out at me. It is amazing at the questions I can’t answer or don’t have any answer to when asked without even seeing the vehicle.

Some of the questions even come from doctors or people in any service industry. Anyway, he started asking me all these questions on the phone. By the way, this man is a doctor who has a general practice and also practices oncology. One thing he is not, is stupid, trust me. But some of his questions over the phone really made me chuckle inside. ” What do you think  is wrong with it,”? or How much will it cost”? How long will it take”?

Why are these silly questions? Especially coming from a person I know well and is a doctor, a highly educated medical doctor? Well, the funny part is that I can’t diagnose a transmission problem over the phone any better than he can diagnose a medical condition over the phone. After I mentioned that in a funny way we had a laugh. I told him I would be over to look at it soon.

I grabbed a few critical diagnostic tools and headed out. What I did in terms of diagnosis is not important, the discussion we had and outcome was. When I got there, I immediately went to work and diagnosed the problem, we chatted while I did it. It took about an hour and I explained what I was doing as I went along with my business.

After I found the problem we sat down and talked. This is essentially what I said: “Dude, Bro. did you see me diagnose your car? Pretty impressive, eh?” I asked “have you ever diagnosed a serious medical problem on the phone”? He said “Absolutely not, it is a matter of medical ethics and getting sued if I’m wrong.” I replied “with what you just said, did you really think I could diagnose your car over the phone”?

We laughed again and then I gave him his diagnosis and what I considered to be the best solution. My friend has a name by the way. His name is Dr. Snewman., MD. So I said “Doc, you need a replacement transmission. With over 150,000 mikes on it and the lack of maintenance this vehicle has received, it is not worth fixing, based on the age of the car, buy yourself a good used transmission and have my buddy who owns an engine shop install it. You might even get a discount since I know him well.

The doc took my advise and bought one of the low mileage used transmissions from GotTransmissions.com. He is very happy about the affordable price on the transmission and how well it works. The doc may make a good living, but he does not waste money, he knows a good value. In this case he got terrific value by installing use transmission. It met everyone of his personal needs. Good used transmissions are a a good choice for many people who are experiencing a serious transmission issue. For a newer model car or truck in the 6 to 8 year old range, or a specialty car like a BMW, you can find some excellent deals on low mileage used transmissions out there.

How can you go wrong if you have an Mercedes or Beemer that needs a replacement transmission and the dealer wants about $7,000.00 for a factory replacement unit. That is for a transmission only, no labor or transmission fluid included, with a one year warranty. For half of that or less, you can buy a low mileage used transmission and have it professionally installed with transmission fluid, and a longer warranty than the dealership transmission.

We stock low mileage used transmissions out of cars that had no transmission problems at all, other than they were wrecked badly. Our reserves of used transmissions with 30,000 to 50,000 miles on them for sale at GotTransmissions.com is stacked as high as we can legally stack them, crated, tested and ready to go.

For most people a used transmission may be the best choice. For instance if the vehicle you drive is for work or  commercial purposes it probably should have a heavy duty transmission in it. Or if it is older than 10 to 13 years of age, used may be the most cost effective way to go. Remember, we offer nationwide labor warranties, don’t forget to ask..

Regardless of your choice in the type of replacement transmissions. GotTransmissions.com is the leading supplier of low mileage used transmissions, both manual transmissions and automatic transmissions. Feel free to call @ 866-320-1182 and talk to an expert in transmission replacement.

Used Ford Transmissions: Sales and Service..

“Where Our Customers Send Their Friends”Used Ford Transmissions For Sale

Used Ford Transmissions For Sale

Used Ford Transmissions are selling very well. The main transmissions we sell for Ford products are the Ford truck transmissions. Not very many rear wheel drive (RWD) Ford cars have transmission problems, except the Ford Exploder, I mean Ford Explorer, that is when the car is used appropriately and gets regular maintenance. The front wheel drives (FWD) have many more transmission problems and failures. In general FWD transmissions are taking over from RWD vehicles in most cars and the mid sized to smaller vans.

The most problematic transmissions, which are primarily used in the truck line and large vehicles like the Navigator, and some of the other Ford ‘boats’ on the road.

#1. The Ford transmissions deemed E4OD or C-6 with an overdrive as many mechanics call it, were the original BIG Ford overdrive/computerized transmissions. Used primarily in trucks, were a real disaster. Problematic and failure prone when introduced in the late ’80’s. Within a few years Ford corrected many of the issues, but many holes were left to be figured out by the top transmission men in the country. And before long R&D companies like Transgo had put an effective update kit on the market.

#2. The 4R100 replaced the E4OD in 1997 and was a modest upgrade in durability, yet was manufactured with some less than desirable parts. The manufacturer went from using good old fashioned cast iron clutch drums and other components that take a beating to a stamped steel replacement part. In essence the transmission worked better and had a potentially better life span, but under extreme duress, the stamped steel components, which were not as strong as the older cast iron components would literally rip apart. Cured one issue and developed another.

FYI: Many of the cast iron E4OD components would interchange with the 4R100 transmission, making it very durable. There is so much to say technically about these units, I’ll leave it at that.

#3. The 5R100W replaced the 4R100 in 2004. This unit is a 5 speed automatic transmission, keeping up with the times. Essentially very similar to the 4R100, with another gear added. This is quite a good transmission and seems reliable and trouble free for the most part.

Ford transmissions are in my opinion are designed with good integrity and structure. Regardless of what brand of transmission you buy, if the vehicle was beat up and not taken care of, the best transmissions in the world would be no good.

The Finest Low-Mileage Used Transmissions For Sale ASAP.

When we talk about buying  used transmissions, there are plenty of things to take into consideration. The first thing is locating the right transmission supply company. The second item is the make sure you buy a certified and pre-tested low mileage used transmission. Only the cream of the crop have the authority to buy from the recycling yards who sell low mileage transmissions.

What methods do the best used transmission company’s use to get the jump on the best used transmissions? The number one thing is company ethics and reputation. When a company consistently exceeds it’s customers expectations in regards to the quality of a product and the value based on cost, more and more recycling companies open their doors to places like GotTransmissions.com.

Remember, the best recyclers only deal with wholesale transmission companies that don’t cause them problems. In a way it is a reciprocal thing between two companies that work hard to provide an excellent, reliable and affordable product.

My take on a good used low mileage transmission is that when you buy a used transmission with less than 40,000 miles on it, you are actually getting a transmission that is barely worn in. If you continue to take care and provide the proper maintenance you may exact more miles out of a used transmission than a rebuilt unit.

Used Transmissions Sales: Used Transmissions, a Cost Effective Solution.

Used Transmissions are an extremely cost effective solution for a worn out or broken transmission. Regardless of the type of car or truck you drive. Even if you drive a manual transmission or an automatic transmission,  pre tested, used transmissions with low mileage will provide a solution to your transmission woes that includes a solid, viable long term answer for you.

Locating a trusty transmission supply company is one of the most important steps in finding the correct used transmission. Plenty of companies sell used transmissions that have fairly high mileage on them, but still work. While these older transmissions are easy to find and sell at cheap prices, buying a used transmission that has 40,000 miles or less is one of the true values in this field, and generally does not cost anymore than the older units.

Companies without high ethics don’t care about anything but selling the unit and praying it makes it out of the warranty. The best transmission supply companies only sell low mileage pre tested units with a “peace of mind” warranty, so to speak. The odd part is that the pricing is generally about the same. So when you buy a good used low mileage transmission from GotTransmissions.com, you really get the best value available anywhere.

Consider this, first off the low mileage unit and the hi mileage unit may cost the same, but when you understand that the low mileage transmission will outlast the hi-mileage unit by many, many miles, it is easy to see the tremendous value of one of our low mileage used transmissions for sale.

Why not take a few minutes and call one of the specialists at GotTransmssions.com @ 866-320-1182 and let us help you cure the pain associated with the loss of the usage of your vehicle. We have the best low mileage-used transmissions for sale on the market. Guaranteed.

Don’t forget to ask about our exclusive nationwide labor warranty.

Transmissions for Sale: Borg Warner Transmissions

Borg Warner Transmission Company will supply its eGearDrive transmissions for the Coda electric sedan, scheduled for U.S. introduction in California in mid-2010.

The Coda sedan also will have a PowerPhase 100 electric propulsion system supplied by UQM Technologies Inc., which makes brush-less, permanent-magnet electric motors.

BorgWarner, of suburban Detroit, initially plans to supply the transmissions from its factory in Longview, Texas, to an assembly plant in China, spokeswoman Erika Nielsen said. Eventually, the company may supply the transmissions from its factory in Beijing as volumes and the business case warrant.

Coda, of Santa Monica, Calif., was launched in June as an offshoot of Miles Electric Vehicles, which makes neighborhood electric vehicles for fleets.

Coda said Chinese automaker Harbin Hafei Automotive will provide the $45,000 sedan’s chassis and assemble the car in Harbin, China. Lithium ion battery packs will come from China’s Tianjin Lishen Battery.

BorgWarner makes transmissions and all-wheel-drive systems.

Very interesting! Although our immediate goal is to continue to be the best transmission supplier in the country. We already have proved that by out performing the competition with our products that exceed all expectations, we also want you to get a taste of the future. A start-up motor company based in Santa Monica, Calif., Coda Automotive, will reveal a new electric car soon which it plans to begin selling in California in 2010, with plans to launch nationwide later on.

The five-passenger sedan will run off of Chinese-made batteries, giving the driver the ability to run 90 to 120 miles per charge. The price tag is higher than most, selling for about $45,000 before federal and state rebates are applied.

Somewhat LEGO-like, the details of the all-electric 2010 Coda Sedan are coming together. I learned this morning that the EV will use a 134 hp motor from UQM. BorgWarner is supplying its eGearDrive single-speed transmission which will find a home under the hood of the electric vehicle.

According to Coda the BorgWarner’s 31-03 eGearDrive transmission, is “ideally suited” for electric drive vehicles. The highway-speed Coda Sedan will likely not be the only model to use this transmission, which is adaptable to a variety of systems, says BorgWarner Drivetrain Systems president and general manager John Sanderson.

Chrysler/Fiat Transmissions for Sale: Wholesale Discounts..

Chrysler Transmissions For Sale

Chrysler Transmissions For Sale

By 2014, 12 nameplates from Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep or Ram will have heavy Fiat influence. They will either be developed on Fiat Group platforms or named and imported from the Fiat Group. This co-existence will use a variety of Fiat and Chrysler transmissions.

For example, a FSD Lancia will be name-plated as a Chrysler. A subcompact Jeep will share a chassis platform with the next-generation Fiat Panda Cross. A redesigned Chrysler Sebring and Dodge Avenger will evolve from an unspecified Fiat Group platform.

Chrysler’s newest brand, Ram, will add two renamed vans from Fiat.

Rear-drive vehicles, namely trucks and big cars, will continue to be Chrysler’s area of expertise. The next-generation Charger will woo baby boomers, with styling cues drawn from the iconic 1968-1970 Chargers.

Meanwhile, Ram executives say the model line will be expanded up to Class 5 medium-duty trucks. My understanding is It is an effort to push Ram sales over the 400,000 mark. Last year, Chrysler sold 245,840 Rams

While V-8 engines such as the Hemi will continue to play a prominent role in the automaker’s largest vehicles, Fiat’s four-cylinder engines will rule elsewhere. Displacements will range from 1.4 to 2.0 liters.

Here is what I read: Chrysler executives project that in 2014, Fiat-derived engines and transmissions will account for 42 percent of the company’s mix. Chrysler’s new Pentastar V-6 family, developed before Fiat came on the scene, will account for 38 percent.

Although this is what the future brings to us, the cars we currently drive will be on the roads for many years. With this in mind if you need some transmission advise on a one of the currently produced Chrysler transmissions, call GotTransmissions.com for a lesson in how to decide what transmission is in your best interests. Our professionals have the time to explain the details and break them down into terms you will understand. Call GotTransmissiosn.com @ 866-320-1182.

Used Transmissions Last Longer With Synthetic ATF

Unless you are driving a model A or T Ford, your automatic transmission and standard transmission uses synthetic transmission fluids. All cars use synthetic transmission fluid now, all auto manufacturers use synthetic automatic transmission fluids in their automatic transmissions from the factory, and most of the modern standard transmissions actually use synthetic automatic transmission fluid or a synthetic based gear lube too.

Used Transmissions for sale

Used Transmissions for sale

FYI, modern standard transmissions are very precisely built units and don’t use the heavy weight gear lubes anymore. Of course the older standard transmissions still use heavy weight gear lubes. Heavy non-synthetic gear lubes are available still, but it also comes in synthetic base which is a good upgrade.

Auto manufacturers’ figured out 15 or more years ago that transmissions and engines last longer when synthetic lubrication is used. It actually saves the dealers money by having to do less warranty work. Some of the car manufacturers have brand specific synthetic oils and when you have your transmission maintained, the ATF should come from the dealer. Honda, Kia and Mitsubishi must be filled with fluid that comes from the dealer. No outside sources are available for those automatic and standard transmissions at this point. If you cheat here by not using the exact fluid you will probably be calling GotTransmissions.com for a rebuilt transmission soon.

All General Motors and Ford vehicles use a mixture called Dexron III-E or Mercon V, which is interchangeable. Chrysler products use a brand specific fluid, but it works great in Fords and General Motors cars and trucks too. It lasts longer before it breaks down.

Synthetic fluids have the chemical properties to withstand extreme temperatures and are more slippery than conventional oils. ATF has a package of 27 additives that make it compatible with the anatomy and workings inside of an automatic transmission. Synthetic ATF and engine oils flow better in cold temperatures, especially below 10 degrees Fahrenheit by not jelling up at low temperatures. They are prepared to take a lot more heat than conventional ATF, which is your main enemy.

Simply put, using the wrong transmission fluid is the biggest cause of automatic transmission failure, spending more on the proper synthetic lubricant saves a bunch of money in the end. There are a lot of people who have used the incorrect fluids or oils trying to save money who learned the lesson the expensive way. Using auxiliary external cooling is a wonderful compliment or upgrade for getting max life out of you tranny.

We need to discuss having a ‘flush’ performed in a future article in more depth, but I don’t recommend a flush out of your transmission since most of the time the filter is not changed. Actually it is not necessary to have a transmission flushed if you change your transmission fluid on time and mileage. If the filter is not changed, the job is not complete. Would you get an engine oil change and no filter?

Flushing an automatic transmission is popular with general automotive repair shops. You would not go to dentist if you needed heart surgery, so if you want to have any work at all performed on your transmission, of any sort, than go to a transmission specialty shop.

GotTransmissions.com Blog is presented because we know an educated consumer makes better decisions. Call us now at !-877-268-0664 and speak with a speciaist on used transmissions and which one fills your bill.
