4r100 transmission for sale

Ford 4R100 Transmission For Sale

Ford 4R100 Transmission For Sale

I can’t think of a more structurally sound extra large heavy duty automatic transmission than the Ford 4R100. Often I have spoken of how heavy duty the two other American car companies largest transmissions are, yet this one has several tiny flaws in the valve body and cooling arrangements that force plenty of units go bad before their time is due.

The 4R100 proceeds the E4OD. Which stands for Electronic 4(speed) Over-Drive. It is fully computerized with a beautiful high technology control system that provides excellent shift quality and super pulling power for the large loads.

I want to address the small shortcomings built into this transmission from the factory. I have seen and had to rebuild more 4R100 and E4OD transmission due to these relatively minor shortcomings.

1. The most common failure of this transmission is due to insufficient automatic transmission fluid (ATF) cooling. It is not entirely the transmissions problem, but an indirect problem that can be cured before you have a serious transmission failure. It is also advisable to take these actions if you buy a rebuilt or used transmission from us.

Simply put, especially in trucks that work hard, the transmission fluid does not cool down enough through the stock cooling system, therefore burning the transmission fluid and causing a terrible leak out of the front of the transmission and or literally burning the clutches, bands and any plastic parts along the way.

Using a non synthetic transmission fluid falls under the overheating category. Synthetic ATF can take twice as much heat before it breaks down.

My advise is to add an external auxiliary transmission cooler in addition to the factory system to effectively cure the overheating problem.

2. The second issue is a tad bit more involved and is usually done at the time of a full rebuild. Although the smart owner will have this service performed immediately upon receiving a vehicle with said transmission.

What we call this procedure is installing an upgrade kit. The kits addresses many issues and upon rebuilt turns this into more than the beast it was intended to be. However, part of the kit can be installed without any invasive treatment. And it is not a bad idea if you buy a used transmission to have a professional perform the installation of the components that can be installed while the transmission is still in the vehicle.

I want to make this abundantly clear. If you have a bad or malfunctioning transmission, don’t do anything until it is checked by a profession transmission mechanic.

The point I want to get across is that we sell rebuilt 4R100 transmissions. Every rebuilt unit gets an update kit. The entire kit is installed while being rebuilt. The cost of the kit and extra time to do the procedure is like making money. You will now have a transmission you can forget about except for regular maintenance with synthetic transmission fluid.

Most of our customers don’t believe it is the same transmission after their their first road test. We recommend an auxiliary cooler too, of course. If you choose to buy a quality used transmission from us, at the least, we recommend an auxiliary cooler, the upgrade kit is worthy, but not necessary on a used transmission.

Take a minute and give one of our salesman a call now. We will be glad to discuss your situation and help you decide which one of our 4R100 transmissions fills your bill perfectly. Call GotTransmissions.com now.

Your Key to Rebuilt Transmissions For Sale

Your Key to Rebuilt Transmissions For Sale

Did you just have a transmission failure and becoming frustrated with trying to make sense out of the various terminology and concerns involved in locating some reliable and consistent information to go by? It makes the process look like brain surgery. It does not have to be that complicated if you are browsing for transmissions for sale.

The truth is some places confuse you on purpose hoping to sell what is most profitable for them. Realistically speaking, you want a company that talks straight and sells replacement transmissions that suit your best interests. Any company who does not embrace the customers needs first is the wrong place to do business with.

So what exactly is a rebuilt transmission? One thing is that there are certain guidelines every rebuilder should follow. Unfortunately that is not so.

This should be taken and understood to mean at the very least, most of the following:

1: All internal and external parts, including case and housing, have been thoroughly cleaned and inspected
2. The valve body has been disassembled and thoroughly cleaned and inspected
3. Soft-parts replaced with new: All bands have been replaced with new.
4. As much as possible of all the following parts have to be replaced with new parts:
a. Lined friction clutch plates
b. Internal and external seals including seals that are called ”metal clad”.
c. All rubber sealing rings
d. All Gaskets and or sealer
5. Hard parts (sub-assemblies) need to be inspected and rebuilt or replaced.

All worn, defective, or damaged parts not mentioned above have been restored to original factory condition or replaced with new or rebuilt parts. Measuring and adjusting of such parts to factory clearances.

If so equipped, all of the transmission’s internal and external electronic components, should be replaced by factory original components, no aftermarket electrical components. Although electrical parts inspected and found to be functioning properly may be reused with discretion.

A rebuilt torque converter.

This is the formula. Although plenty of remanufacturers manipulate some parts and some use parts with lower than acceptable credentials.

The end result is determined by how long a replacement transmission lasts which ultimately determines it’s overall value. A cheap transmission that is not rebuilt to acceptable standards will cost more than the few dollars difference an acceptable rebuilt transmission will cost.

nv4500 transmission for sale

nv 4500 transmission for sale

nv 4500 transmission for sale

The (New Venture) NV4500 transmission is one of those special 5 speed manual transmissions that has it all. ‘Highly reliable’ is it’s middle name. With huge gears and bearings this 5 speed transmission was offered in pickup trucks, primarily up to one ton trucks.

It is such a versatile 5 speed manual transmission that it has become a very popular replacement in hot rods, older cars and trucks. Originally it was designed as an aftermarket replacement transmission, however because of it’s ease of installation, both General motors and Chrysler made good use of it.

As a matter of interest, New Process Gear, was a joint-venture automotive transmission company set up by General Motors and the Chrysler Corporation in February 1990.

With an aluminum alloy housing and unusually large in circumference shafts, we have the base of a great recipe. Because this was in essence going to be generic as far as it’s intended usage was originally concerned, the transmission was an overkill in durability. The engineers never figured it would become possibly the most popular 5 speed manual transmission ever.

What I mean by the above statement is that it is very adaptable to car builders. Folks who engineer and build hot rods take advantage of it’s ease of adaptability of installation, and of course it’s obvious fuel savings with 5th speed being an overdrive gear.

Another area of popularity is for owners of older trucks who like their vehicles and want to upgrade the transmission and improve fuel mileage and drive-ability. I did the equivalent to my truck. It had a 3 speed automatic transmission in it, I installed an overdrive automatic transmission in it and picked up 4 miles per gallon and improved it’s highway drive-ability 100%.

It is not an unreasonable thought to keep a nice old truck and upgrade it somewhat when the transmission needs to be replaced. As cars become more expensive, I’m sure this type of thinking will become more popular. We did a lot of this type of work at my transmission shop.

Realistically speaking, the bulk of people who opted to keep their trucks and take a chance on a conversion to a more modern manual transmission, were quite enthusiastic about it once they drove it. In fact we had many referrals for this type of procedure. It’s almost like buying a new car. Simply put, it’s that dramatic of a change.

For accurate information and answers to your questions, no matter what they are for this venerable transmission, our representatives are prepared to explain in terms you understand how well we know our subject. You better believe we have the nv4500 transmission for sale that meets your exact needs. Ready for immediate shipment. Call us now. GotTransmissions.com

c4 transmission for sale

Good News: C4 Transmission For Sale

Good News: C4 Transmission For Sale

The c4 transmission Ford, was the transmission that eventually helped me decide that the transmission business was for me. Why? Well the c4 was introduced in 1964. How do I know that? The c stands for the decade of the 1960’s, and the 4 is the year of said decade in Ford’s numbering system, hence, 1964.

Actuality the c4 was a marvel of engineering. It was a compact light weight 3 speed automatic tranny. Very efficient in operation and well suited for many uses. Ford used this small mighty transmission in almost everything it seems. Even the F150 pickups came equipped with the c4.

The transmission was very durable considering it’s diminutive size. It was capable of more use/abuse than one might imagine. Although a 17 year older with a Shelby Mustang became a specialist at breaking c4 transmissions. Those were extenuating circumstances though, because I flat out beat that car.

As of now, it is a very outdated transmission, having only 3 forward speeds and no lockup torque converter. The truth is that there are plenty of older cars on the road with c4 transmissions, and it is a common unit for hot rods because of its weight and size benefits.

Realistically speaking, since the c4 has been out of production for almost 30 years, the most common c4 transmissions for sale are rebuilt. Even if you found a used c4 with low mileage, time plays a big factor in the aging process, so chances are it is no good. Automatic transmissions are full of soft parts, some of which are rubber and some are friction material. Both items are subject to deterioration by time.

The fact is that a quality fully rebuilt c4 is not very expensive, especially when compared to a newer fully computer controlled 4or 5 speed automatic transmissions. For most people who still drive older cars, this is very affordable as a replacement transmission in order to keep the jalopy on the road. It is how I handle my car affairs. I keep them forever and replace items as they fail or before they fail if I get a warning before the failure.

Simply junking a good old car for a broken transmission is not a good choice, or one I would make. I drive older vehicles and enjoy the lower costs of repairs including big components like a transmission. My newest personal vehicle is a 1988 1 ton GMC pickup (mint) I bought brand new. When the time comes for a transmission, I think you probably know what I will do.

If you are like me and believe that fixing your good running old car is in your best interests, take some advise from me, a replacement rebuilt transmission for sale is very affordable and exceeds your expectations in the long run. You can speak with a friendly transmission specialist who will listen to your needs before a recommendation is made. Call now and find out why we have so many happy customers.

4l60e transmission for sale

4L60E Transmission For Sale

4L60E Transmission For Sale

We have a Chevy 4l60e transmission for sale that is perfect for you. Fortunately, you did not stop to search at just another transmission replacement company. What exactly do I mean when I say that we have a 4l60e transmission for you? Simply put, we have in stock every 4l60e transmission that fits every application made by General Motors.

Did you know that there are subtle differences in nearly every 4l60e transmission depending on it’s application. For instance, a Buick Roadmaster would have a 4l60e that was programmed to shift smooth and seamlessly for maximum comfort and lifespan for a luxury car. A 2500 series pickup truck will be programmed from the factory to shift more aggressively and forcefully to exact max life out of a work truck.

Would you want a work truck transmission in your Buick? No. It would have very noticeable shifts since it was designed for a truck, most folks who have a luxury car don’t want aggressive shifts. What about the truck? Well the aggressive shifts make the transmission last longer because the extra force used to make the shifts helps carry heavy loads with more authority.

Just ordering a transmission randomly is not a good avenue to take, of course a decent company like ours will halt the progress of a random a approach and help you decide on how to approach the subject. In fact it is downright irresponsible to let a person with little or no knowledge mail order a transmission randomly.

The company has a responsibility to learn who their customers are and appeal to them in a sincere manner that is informative and understandable. The more you understand as a consumer the better decision you will make. Don’t be surprised if we Benjamin Franklin you to death. (Ask a lot of pertinent questions).

We ask a lot of questions because the more we know about the vehicle it goes into and what your usage is, the better we can serve you up the exact replacement transmission you need.

One of our most popular replacement transmission is the 4l60e. It has been extensively used in Chevrolet and all General Motors products for well over 15 years. By locating your vehicle identification number (VIN) on your registration, I guarantee we can have the exact replacement 4l60e shipped within 24 hours. Allow us to prove it. Call Now.

e4od Transmission For Sale

e4od Transmission For Sale

e4od Transmission For Sale

When the first Ford e4od transmissions were introduced, people like myself, who are actually involved in the technical side of the business were blown away. I’m a 30 plus year veteran of transmissions, having been self employed from 1981 to 2006. It was the first big heavy duty 4 speed electronic overdrive transmission on the market.

Actually the big three introduced all of their versions about the same time, it was the e4od that we worked on first. Remember the first ones, there was a button on the right side of the dash that engaged the overdrive.

Ford used their brains on this one. They used the famously successful and durable C6 as the base for the first 3 speeds of this 4 speed transmission. Using a redesigned case and an added overdrive section in the top area, Ford came out with a new transmission that was inline with the new GM 4L80E.

By using a known excellent commodity in the C6, our recipe is partly completed, by adding an overdrive section to it and converting it to fully electronic functionality, Ford produced what eventually became perhaps the most used light to medium duty transmission on the market.

Not without it’s share of initial problems, most of the problems were a re result of wiring harness problems and electrical connector connections. When the harness and electrical problems were detected and fixed, rarely did a transmission fail.

The e4od had a certain amount of internal issues that we not due to the parts directly, as opposed to the systems that operated the sub-assemblies. Once a rebuild becomes necessary, it is the perfect time to upgrade the internal areas of concern since the transmission is stripped bare and all components that need updating are right in front of you.

Updating the e4od turns a darn good transmission into the load pulling monster it can be. Bringing out all of the transmissions potential, and what you expected in the first place. These transmissions work so well after we rebuild them, many people are surprised and call back to let us know. We encourage feedback, it allows us to know where we can get better.

If you are looking at an e4od transmission for sale, you may be interested in speaking with a professional transmission salesperson. No matter what your application is, we have an e4od for sale in the configuration you want for the vehicle you own, ready to be shipped in 24 hours or less. So give us a call and place your order now. GotTransmissions.com.

Turbo 400 Transmission For Sale

Turbo 400 Transmission for Sale: Thanks Very Much.

Turbo 400 Transmission for Sale: Thanks Very Much.

The Turbo 400 was perhaps the most famous Chevy transmission from the new breed of 3 speed automatic transmissions, when 3 forward speeds first came out. Three forward speeds in the early sixties was very modern then. In a way it is the equivalent of four and five speed automatic transmissions of today.

There was no way to know back then how popular the 400 would become with many groups of car owners. Truck owners of the 1500, 2500 and 3500 series trucks loved them because they were durable. Hot rodders and drag racers fell in love with the 400 because of durability benefits and how well suited it was for super fast and hard shifts. A drag racers dream.

As I mentioned in a post on the 4L80E, the 400 is the 3 speed section of the 4L80 transmission. When you have a product that is so successful, why not use some solid technology from such a successful source? The 4L80 is becoming a legend as the 400 has become.

To a transmission person this may be interesting, although a non tranny person may derive some satisfaction knowing the T400 operates a bit different than a 3 speed automatic transmission that uses a band for 2nd gear. The T400 uses a clutch pack for second gear. The beauty and life improving benefits from having clutch plates over a band for second gear is as such.

Clutches do not have to release before the 3rd gear shift can be made. A 2nd gear band has to release before the 3rd gear shift can occur, or a tremendous bind up (you might think someone hit you from behind) happens. The 2nd gear clutches in a clutch type (2nd gear) transmission do not have to release to cause a 3rd gear shift, thus a cleaner more efficient shift which translates into more life.

Enough mumbo jumbo, rebuilt T400 transmissions are a super deal, good enough to make looking for an old one not cost effective or a good value. T400 transmissions were discontinued in the early ’90’s, so locating a used one that has life left in it is not very feasible.

When you consider used in this case as being very used since they have been out of production so long, you are filling a short termed stopgap at best. For seemingly hardly any more cost buying a rebuilt T400 for your 3500 series Chevy truck will cost less than you expect and exceed your expectations by a mile. 4l80E Transmission For Sale

General Motors manufactures the Chevy 4L80E transmission, it is the strongest transmission made by GM. The optional Allison transmission is now available and proven to be worthy, however it is hard to beat the 15 plus years of super service the 4L80E transmission has given the truck industry.

Essentially Chevy used a very reliable and successful model to go by in designing the 4L80E. Based on the T400, which is an icon in Chevy transmission land, the 4L80E has a case which accepts all the guts from the T400 and has an overdrive section in the front of the case in order to achieve the overdrive gear. It is a fully electronic transmission using a transmission control assembly and a wide range of sensors telling the computer when and how to shift.

It is a great recipe, combining a known commodity with some savvy design changes to dish up one of the tuffest transmissions for light duty trucks ever. I define a light duty truck as a 1.5 ton or less. Such as the Chevy or GMC 3500 series trucks and SUV’s. The other brands of vehicles have their own versions to compete with the GM 4L80E.

Part of the success this transmission has had since the beginning is that the base came from a tremendously successful unit already (T400), which makes the job easier than having to start from scratch. Essentially they had to design an overdrive section and a new case to stuff it into. A lot less work and trial and error than starting from scratch.

Simple it’s not, but a good idea it is. Remembering I mentioned this is fully electronically operated was another challenge to overcome. About the biggest problems this unit faced were actually wiring harness problems. My recommendation upon replacing a 4L80E transmission is to check the wiring harness and connectors. It is cheap to buy new connectors and easy to get at most parts stores.

Since you are probably searching for a 4L80E transmission for sale, may I recommend speaking with the folks at GotTransmissions.com. They have the experience to hook you up with a 4L80E transmission for sale that will meet your need and fit the budget. Call now and let us give you an education. Don’t forget we ship in 24 hours so you can get back on the road asap.

Mercedes Manual Transmissions

Looking for in depth, highly detailed information on Mercedes Manual Transmissions? Are you an antique car collector or do you enjoy driving a 30 year old Mercedes that gets 30 plus miles per gallon of diesel fuel? To be perfectly honest, Mercedes has not used many standard shift transmissions, or gearboxes as they call them, for about 20 some years, except in certain sporty models or special order vehicles.

During my professional career as the owner, operator and a participator in my transmission shop from 1981 to 2006, we rarely worked on a Mercedes standard shift transmission. The ratio was never tallied up, but I assure you it was very low compared to Mercedes automatic tranny’s. Simply put, they choose to outfit the bulk of their cars with their excellent automatic shift transmissions.

I remember when I was about ten years old my best friends mom had a Mercedes 4 door car with a 4 speed manual shift on the steering column. Very unusual at the time to see a 4 on the ‘tree’.

Of the manual units I did work on, they were constructed in a typical German fashion, excellent engineering and tip top parts. Pretty dang simple, eh? They have a vibe for building well engineered cars, Porsche is the best built car in the world, that’s a fact.

My bet is you are reading this post because you are interested in buying a replacement unit. While you may indeed want to buy a rebuilt transmission, you don’t want to rebuild it yourself. If that were the case, you would have searched for something different.

With that in mind, our inventory has never been overstocked with Mercedes manual transmissions for sale. Partly due to the lack of vehicles manufactured by said company with standard gearboxes, and in part because they last a long time.

What we stock is the most common units available in the last 20 years. They are all pre-tested and certified to work perfectly. We do this regardless of what interests you have, for instance you may be interested in rebuilt manual transmissions, or possibly a good used unit. We test them all, it builds customer confidence by doing so. Call now and see how fast we can ship a Mercedes manual transmission for sale to you.

Turbo 350 Transmission For Sale

The Turbo (Turbo Hyrdomatic) transmission trade-name belongs to General Motors. The Turbo 350 transmission was one of the first 3 speed automatic transmissions General Motors made. It was introduced in 1969 by Chevy and Olds to replace the 2 speed T300 and Aluminum Powerglide.

Three speed automatic transmissions offered new benefits to the modern drivers at that time. The major benefits were somewhat obvious, especially for the fuel conscious consumer. However some of the other benefits are not so obvious, such as an extra forward speed, which not only allows for a lower first gear ratio for easier acceleration and less stress on the drive-line in whole.

Another positive factor when adding a forward gear is that the engine will last longer because it is turning at lower (RPM’s) revolutions per minute due largely to the extra forward speed. Adding an extra gear relieves much of the stress two forward speeds create due to less load ratings on the gears and torque converter.

In 1980 a new style torque converter was developed called a lock up torque converter. The lock up is a complicated feature to describe, so lets say it decreased operating RPM’s in high gear, thus increasing fuel mileage another 2 to 4 miles per gallon.

Calling the T350 a success is an understatement. Right off the bat it was a fine addition to the GM transmission lineup and was remarkably trouble free from the beginning. It was one of those occasions where a new product was not full of problems needing to be ironed out.

The demand is not as great anymore for T350 transmissions since they have been out of production in the mid to late ’80’s. The supply of used T350 tranny’s is practically nil, unless you buy a 350 that has been rebuilt already. But who knows how well it was rebuilt in the first place.

The most popular way to buy a Turbo 350 Transmission for sale is a rebuilt version. One of the reasons we suggest against an old used transmission, even if it is a low mileage transmission, is that automatic transmissions are hydraulic by nature. The hydraulic fluid pressure is contained in sealed circuits to arrive at the destination inside the transmission at the correct pressure.

Since rubber is the material that is used to seal the hydraulic pressures, time and exposure to the cold and hot, humidity and dryness damages rubber seals, even ones never even used. This, obviously makes time a disadvantage for automatic transmissions. The good part is that a Turbo 350 transmission for sale Chevy is cheap to buy. Do yourself a favor and allow us to assist you in your quest for a replacement transmission.
